Mark Gallogly, Vice Chair

Mark Gallogly is the Co-Founder and Managing Principal of Three Cairns Group. Three Cairns is a mission-driven investment and philanthropic firm focused on climate. Current philanthropic priorities of Three Cairns include: Allied Climate Partners (ACP), Allied Talent Partners (ATP), and the Global Carbon Market Utility (GCMU). Three Cairns’ goal is work with partners to incubate, develop, and scale each of these initiatives.

Mark served at the U.S. State Department as an Expert Senior Advisor to John Kerry early in the Biden Administration; on President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness (2010-2012); and on the President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board (2008-2010). 

Mark retired from Centerbridge Partners in 2020, an investment firm he co-founded in 2005 and grew to over $30 billion of assets under management. Mark’s 35-year career in investing and finance included serving as Global Head of Private Equity at The Blackstone Group.

Mark is a Member of the Private Sector Investment Lab (PSIL). He chairs ACP, ATP, and the GCMU. He serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees at Columbia University and on the Board of Advisors at the Columbia Climate School.  Mark co-founded Three Cairns with his wife, Lise Strickler.

Mark earned his BA from the University of Notre Dame and MBA from Columbia University.
